2 Rivers and 4 Lakes water system
'2 Rivers and 4 Lakes Park' is actually a live water system in the central urban area of Guilin. The project of water system reconstruction was launched in 1998 and completed in 2002, forming a round-the-city waterway that linking the four lakes Guihu Lake, Ronghu Lake(Banyan Lake), Shanhu Lake(Fir Lake), Mulong Lake and the two rivers Li River, Taohua River(Peach-blossom River) together, which enables Guilin to be a scenic city of park.
The Ronghu (Banyan Lake) and Shanhu (Fir Lake) are two beautiful emerald lake parks embedded in the center of Guilin. Back in the Tang Dynasty, they were parts of the city moat. The two lakes are originally a whole before being divided into two parts by the Yangqiao Bridge.

The east is called the Fir Lake owing to the fir trees growing around, and the west is named Banyan Lake thanks to a giant banyan guarding the ancient city gate that enjoys a history of 1,000 years. Around the lakes grow bamboo groves, peach and cassia trees. Zigzagging bridges lead to the small islands dotting on the water.

Though located in downtown, the lake areas are beautiful and quiet.Peach Blossom River is a tributary of the Li River, traversing the western part of Guilin. In autumn the red leaves along the river are spectacular.
Tourists can take boat trips by the water route around the city. This brand new water entertainment will surely adds charm to your stay in Guilin.
